Alkatronic
Basic principal and philosophy
As we are heading the commercial-end-product I will explain some of the basic
principals of the Alkatronic:
The basic principles of the Alkatronic regulatory part is that the aquarist´s basic/main
technique as pH-computers for Ca-reactor or dosing-stations for
Balling, will stand for
the main control part, and this Alkatronic-device is acting like a safe belt, which only
interact when you fall out the reference interval (which you decide in settings), thus in
best case a seldom-event. The safety and stability is more reliable when following that
principle. It is like the "lane-assist" in a car...only when you occasionally drop out, the
machine corrects it. Dosing HCO3 from a separate pump when fall below reference
interval and shutting a socket (for instance to your CO2 if you run Ca reactor ca
reactor or the
Balling unit if you have that) when going above reference interval, are
the actions the machine will take to prevent that dKH deviates outside your referenceinterval.
One example of the features of also controlling deviations ”upwards” is when
for instance you do a water-change with a salt of higher dKH(very common situation).
In that case the machine automatically shut off the CO2 to the reactor(Or the Ballingstation)
and turn it on again when dKH is back, and after that the Ca-reactor again
(Or the
Balling-station) is controlled by your ordinary equipment (like the Apex, Ph
computer etc)
This regime will give the most stable and safe situation and prevents
deviations of dKH outside your desired reference-intervals and between
these intervals give the most stable KH-values.
So, of that reason we will not exclude the HCO3-dosing function, that function is with
no significant extra cost included in all models. That part is actually not expensive at
all, so if you withdraw that very important safety-belt-function, the price is not
significantly drop anyway!

Of that reasons there is also advantages with this standalone concept, as you in any
case should stay tight to your ordinary KH/CA dosing equipment, (like a
Balling
station or Ca-reactor). This machine, as I said, only interact if these basic equipment
is doing something wrong or insufficient. And, in our app, you will see on nice graphs,
action points, how often the Alkatronic had to interact, and exactly what it did. Based
on that, you can then fine-adjust your ordinary basic equipment, so the actions from
the Alkatronic is so seldom as possible. The machine simply put you back on the road
if something is going wrong.
The whole point is that a rapid drop in dKH due to failure(lack of gas, fluid for
instance) of the Ca-reactor or the Ballingstation from whatever company, can cause
the dead of all your corals! That is the main purpose to avoid, and the second purpose
is to achieve a very stable dKH value, and for that the machine helps you fine tune
your ordinary equipment according to the description above.
It is an advantages to not have to come out with suboptimal models just for dropping
the price. As I think the safety is the most important think, we instead working on get a
low price already in the regulatory-standard-models.
Besides all this, we will include wifi, Bluetooth, cloud-function, alarm-alerts, alerts
when reagens fluid has to be changed, history graph with info of actions, reminders of
calibration need, a lot of fail-safes, and if adding dKH, it will do it in a smart some
invert exponential way so we narrow the proper value with proper speed…and much
more…
So, stay tuned, we will come with more exact release-info the closer we come
